Booking Your Flight
There are six major airports in the general area: Los Angeles International (LAX) - 11 miles Long Beach (LGB) - 18 miles Bob Hope/Burbank (BUR) - 25 miles John Wayne/Orange County (SNA) - 38 miles Ontario International (ONT) - 60 miles San Diego International (SAN) - 120 miles Those distances are from the airport to the hotel in Torrance. On the map to the right, the hotel is marked with a red dot and the airports are blue. LAX and Burbank are north, Ontario is northeast, Long Beach and Orange County are southeast and San Diego is south. |

Our Recommendations...
We were initially recommending San Diego because we have found the price of a roundtrip flight (at least from the northeast) can be significantly less expensive. However, it has been brought to our attention that Comic Con is taking place in San Diego during the week just before our wedding, so that might possibly make tickets more expensive or difficult to find. But it might still be worth taking a look if you're trying to save money and don't mind a little extra driving.
If you don't like the hassles and crowds of large airports, you might want to pay special attention to Long Beach and Burbank. Both are much smaller and easier than nearby LAX. Ontario has been pretty hassle-free, too, in our experience... it's just a little further away.
We have been told by multiple people in the airline ticketing industry that the best prices can often be found 90-120 days before your travel dates. In this case, that would mean late March or early April. We're on the lookout for deals every day. We'll try to post them here whenever we find them.
Everyone has their favorite discount travel site. We don't necessarily recommend one over the other. But we did want to mention that we've generally had good experiences flying Southwest. They are very affordable and offer a relatively high level of customer service. If price is not the most important factor, you might also want to check out JetBlue. They can be a little more expensive, but they offer a superior in-flight experience. We don't fly with them all that often because they don't fly out of Philadelphia or Baltimore, but those of you coming from other areas may have more luck.
*You won't find Southwest on the major discount travel sites, so please use the link above.
